23-24 Legislative Changes in Lead in School Drinking Water

The Minnesota Statutes, section 121A.335, is being amended to establish new requirements for school districts regarding lead testing and remediation in school buildings.

The legislative changes require Minnesota school districts to test for lead in school drinking water, follow remediation guidelines if lead is found, and report the results annually. These changes will not be taking effect until fiscal year 2025. We will provide more information as the state finalizes its requirements.

Resource Training & Solutions can provide valuable support to regional school districts in implementing the legislative changes. By leveraging the expertise of our Health & Safety team, we can help you navigate the complexities of lead testing and remediation, ensure compliance with the legislative changes, and prioritize the health and safety of your students and staff.

If you have questions about the new legislative changes please reach out to Scott George, Director of Health & Safety sgeorge@resourcecoop-mn.gov.
