Grades: 3rd - 8th

The spelling bee competition is designed to help students improve their spelling and vocabulary development. The series of spelling contests starts at the school and district levels, with winners advancing to regional events. Regional winners may participate in the Multi-Region State Spelling Bee and the winner advances to the National Spelling Bee. All schools wishing to participate in the Region 7 Regional Spelling Bee must enroll with Scripps National Spelling Bee for District materials and with Resource Training and Solutions for the Regional Spelling Bee.

‍New! This year we will be hosting one Region 7 Regional Spelling Bee at the ballroom of Atwood Memorial Center at St. Cloud State University with one winner advancing to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.

Spelling Bee Coordinators Meeting

Spelling Bee Coordinator's meeting is for all schools wanting to participate in the 2024 Region 7 Regional Spelling Bee sponsored by Resource Training & Solutions at Atwood Memorial Center at St. Cloud State University in February. At this meeting we will go through updates to the spelling bee program and answer any questions you may have about hosting a school level meet.

** There have been many changes to the 2024 Spelling Bee; we strongly encourage ALL Coordinators to attend this meeting.

Participating Schools should complete their District Spelling Bee between January 2 - 26, 2024.

School district need to have their materials submitted by January 30, 2024 in order to participate in the Regional Spelling Bee.

The contracted vendors we have known as State Bid or SB vendors are established through formal bids and purchasing from them satisfies Minnesota competitive bidding requirements - regardless of the amount of the purchase. The ability to do so is outlined in Minnesota Statutes123A.2 and 471.345.

The combination of these two statutes gives members the ability to purchase from contracted vendors while remaining in compliance with the Minnesota competitive bidding requirements.
