Getting Real About Race at School
One barrier in the quest for racially equitable schools is the hesitance of educators to confront racial inequity directly and honestly. In this workshop we will practice rejecting the hesitance and name how racism operates in our schools, impacting educational outcomes and educational experiences for students of color. We will discuss what educators can do to root inequity out and embrace equity in education.
Onward: Building Emotional Resiliency in Educators Workshop
We first reflect on our own emotional resilience, then practice coaching strategies to work with others. Coaches help educators to manage stress and respond to adversity, and mediate the impact of burnout and high turnover of teachers. Coaches need a refined and specific skill set to understand emotions, know how to intervene in an emotional cycle, and build the capacity of another to manage their emotional experiences.
