Education Specialist

Summary/Objective

The Education Specialist is responsible for coordinating student programs/conferences/competitions, creating and facilitating educational networks, and developing and implementing other educational training. The Education Specialist will support a variety of students, support staff, and educators. For the upcoming year, this role will support the following programs/services: Sr. High Knowledge Bowl, SPED Pipeline grant, Para Educator assessment, and Central Minnesota Librarians, and others as assigned.

Essential Functions

  1. Plan, develop, and implement engaging, age-appropriate student programs & competitions, aligning with state standards
  2. Design, plan, and facilitate teacher training and educational networks for a variety of educational professionals
  3. Communicate with schools, teachers, presenters, and volunteers representing a variety of ages and backgrounds in a timely and effective manner
  4. Develop and cultivate relationships with current and prospective program partners and other organizations
  5. Support quality programming through effective communication, program monitoring, and evaluation
  6. Perform additional tasks and special projects on an as-needed basis
  7. Offer excellent customer service to our members, customers, partners, and staff
  8. Maintain knowledge of research and developments within education
  9. Other duties as assigned

Competencies

  1. Experience within a K-12 education setting
  2. Thorough understanding of pedagogy and best practices within education
  3. Proficient in the use of G-Suite applications and online learning platforms
  4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  5. Creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  6. Effective written and verbal communication skills  
  7. Ability to work effectively and efficiently, individually and as a team member
  8. Ability to show initiative in resolving problems  
  9. Ability to assume responsibility, be well organized, execute initiatives from directives, and approved self-initiatives
  10. Ability to build open, honest, and trustworthy relationships with people of various personality styles and behaviors – internally and externally

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in elementary or secondary education

Current Minnesota teaching license

Minimum of five years of teaching experience

Valid MN Driver’s License

Environment & Physical Demands

This role operates in a hybrid office environment, requiring standard office tasks such as using computers and phones, and frequent travel to schools for on-site support and coaching. The position may also involve setting up and tearing down for events, including lifting up to 30 lbs., and standing or carrying items for short distances as needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This 11-month (Aug. 1-June 30) position’s working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular travel to schools, educational events, and occasional events outside of typical work hours is expected.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary for this position is $81,874.77
