Overview

The shift to the MCA-IV is more than just a new test—it’s a new way of measuring scientific literacy. Join your central Minnesota colleagues for a hands-on "Assessment Lab" designed to take the mystery out of the new state framework. In this collaborative session, we will move beyond the theory of the MN Science Standards and NGSS principles to focus on the practical: What does this look like on paper and on screen?

What You’ll Do:

Decode the Framework: Unpack the anatomy of MCA-IV "phenomenon clusters" and new interactive item types.

Audit with Intention: Use alignment rubrics to evaluate your current local assessments and identify "low-hanging fruit" for improvement.

Refine & Build: Spend dedicated time transforming traditional recall questions into multidimensional tasks that mirror state expectations.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the 3D testing landscape and a head start on refining your assessments for the upcoming school year.
