This two-part virtual professional development series focuses on strengthening literacy outcomes for students with disabilities through high-quality IEPs and meaningful collaboration. In Session One, participants will explore the core components of structured literacy and learn how to embed them into clear, measurable IEP goals that align with assessment data and daily instruction. Session Two builds on this foundation by examining how special education and general education teachers can work together to ensure IEPs are implemented with fidelity, shared ownership, and strong communication. Across both sessions, participants will engage in practical examples, collaborative problem-solving, and actionable strategies they can immediately apply to support student growth.
SESSION 1 - This session helps educators connect structured literacy instruction with high-quality, meaningful IEP goals. Participants will review the key components of structured literacy and learn how to turn them into clear, data-driven IEP goals that align with everyday classroom instruction. The session focuses on practical examples, shared language, and strategies you can use right away. You’ll also create tools during the session that are ready to use in the upcoming school year.
SESSION 2 - This session focuses on real-world collaboration between special education and general education teachers. Participants will explore practical strategies for communication, shared ownership of IEPs, and aligning instruction across settings. The goal is to move beyond compliance toward true partnership that supports student growth.
