Annual Chemical Hygiene Officer Training

Note this is the first time this training is not on Columbus Day.

OSHA required update for Science and Chemistry departments.

The training will include:

Review of the OSHA standard
Review of the Chemical Hygiene Plan and its location
Toxicity, hazards, routes of exposure, signs, symptoms, and health effects of chemicals
Review of action levels, PELs, or other appropriate limits for each chemical
Review SDS information available for each chemical (i.e. hazards, handling, storage, and disposal)
Methods to detect the presences or release of hazardous chemicals (i.e. air monitoring, odors, and visual appearance)
Good laboratory practice
Control measures
Emergency response actions

 Lunch will be provided.

 
About the Presenter
Stephen Vopatek received his BA degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Minnesota Morris in 1970. He received his MS degree in Chemistry from SDSU in 1984. He has taught high school and college Chemistry for 45 years. He has done consulting work for a variety of school districts. He currently owns and operates Stephen Vopatek Consulting.
