Resource Training & Solutions is excited to welcome Lacey Smieja to our team as our new Financial Service and Technical Assistance Specialist! Lacey has formerly held roles as City Clerk/Treasurer of the City of Motley, MN and has worked as an auditor/quality control specialist in the private sector at a law firm out of California. She has a master degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University and also holds the designation of a Minnesota Certified Municipal Clerk.
We asked Lacey why she is excited to become a part of our team, “I am very excited to be able to provide support to local government staff across the state. Local government administrative and financial staff really do a tremendous amount of work with few resources, and I am thrilled to be able to provide them with support that will make their jobs a little more manageable, whether that’s helping with an ongoing task such as payroll or bank reconciliations, or a one-time project.”
Lacey has received training from the League of MN Cities, MCFOA and MNGFOA, and has built strong connections through all 3 organizations. “I have a solid background in navigating the resources those organizations provide, as well as a good understanding of state law that proscribes the duties and responsibilities of different positions within local government. I may not know all of the answers, but I am very good at efficiently and effectively figuring it out!”
In her spare time Lacey loves to travel, hike, and generally do anything that allows her to enjoy the outdoors. Welcome to the team Lacey!
