Join experienced educators to experiment with innovative ways to incorporate the new science standards using a nearby space as an outdoor classroom. Jump into some interactive science and engineering lessons you can do right in your own schoolyard. Sample environmental lessons designed by and for Minnesota teachers to build on students’ innate curiosity about the world around them. In this teacher workshop, facilitators will demonstrate lessons that address the new academic standards while engaging students in learning in and about the natural world. These multidisciplinary, multisensory lessons include: Honing observation skills, reading the local landscape, phenology, plants and animals, weather, and designing and conducting investigations to develop science and inquiry skills.
