Objectives for Bloodborne Pathogens Update
Specialized Health & Safety Management - Susie Wistrom

Following the training, the participant will be able to:

  • Define bloodborne pathogens.
  • Identify the bloodborne pathogens of primary
  • List the ways bloodborne pathogens can enter a person
  • Describe the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand washing in reducing the risk of bloodborne pathogens
  • Identify work practices that help eliminate or reduce the risk of
  • Learn how to remove disposable gloves
  • List procedures to follow if exposure occurs.

Objectives for Diabetes

Resource Training and Solution - Amanda Lamecker, BSN, RN, LSN

Following the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Describe physiological differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
  • Discuss the current trends in diagnosis and treatment of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
  • Examine the use of medications used in management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
  • Identify the components of diabetes management required during the school day
  • Demonstrate strategies used in prevention and treatment of hypoglycemia
  • Demonstrate steps to assess and manage hyperglycemia
  • Discuss insulin pump therapy use during the school day, and how to troubleshoot pump related issues
  • Describe continuous glucose monitoring in diabetes management
About the Presenter

Susie Winstrom is the owner of Specialized Health and Safety. She has over 25 years of experience teaching CPR, AED, OSHA required topics and First Aid training.

Amanda Lamecker, BSN, RN, LSN, is the Regional Licensed School Nurse at Resource Training and Solutions. She has been a registered nurse for 10 years, with a variety of nursing experience in rural critical access hospitals, urban hospital systems and school nursing in central Minnesota.
